Congratulations
to Georgette Rolle Click
here to see how Ricardo Davis and DeVaughn Robinson fared in this Georgette
was entered in the National Minority College Golf Tournament
as an individual female. From day one, Georgette took
command of the leader board making a statement that she was there to
win. Day two was also one that Georgette capitalized
on as she surged out front again ahead of the pack.Although Georgette
was not pleased with her numbers she was shooting well enough to continue
her lead. Day one was an 83 and day two a 77. Day three was a much tougher
day for Georgette as she bogeyed and double bogeyed
her last three holes coming back to the field. Sarah
form Florida A & M loomed close enough to drop
a clutch putt forcing a play off. The sudden death playoff began on
Hole #18. Sarah won the toss up and teed off first hitting her shot
to the right hand side of the fairway, next came Georgette,
she hit a monster drive down the left side of the fairway. The second
shots by both ladies were just short of the green on the difficult par
5. First to hit their third shot was Sarah, whose shot flew over the
flag stick. Georgette, seeing her opponent’s
error decided to take no chances and left her chip shot just below the
hole. Sarah putted first as she was furthest away from the hole, running
the 4th shot past the hole. Georgette in turn took
her time, lined up her putt properly and when she was confident that
she could make the putt she executed her shot; it was a clean putt straight
to the middle of the hole for a birdie ending the sudden death playoff.Georgette
was so excited that she could hardly contain herself, all of her team
mates ran up to congratulate her. Upon returning to the score board
area, Georgette was whisked away for an interview with
the PGA media personalities, for the hour long coverage of the event
on the golf channel on June 6, 2007. This
was a really strong ending for a great college career for Georgette,
as a senior and the anchor female on the Texas Southern
team, Georgette will now graduate and move on to other
options as she decides whether to turn pro or to go onto grad school.
Whatever her decision, The Bahamas Golf Federation
and its members are proud of her and her accomplishments and wish her
all the best in her future endeavours.
